Villa Concha Fina is located in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, the northwestern area of the Pacific Coast.  It is part of the Sol Playa Hermosa beach resort and is just 25 minutes from the new International Airport in Liberia. The guard-gated resort includes a 54-room hotel and 106 privately owned villas, this is the premier resort on the pacific northwest coast of Costa Rica.

The three bedrooms, two-bathroom villa is fully equipped to service 6 persons. The villa's open concept and high ceilings provide an elegant, spacious place to gather with friends or family. The living area fronts the covered terrace so everywhere the incredible view of Hermosa Bay. Imagine feeling the gentle ocean breezes and enjoying the spectacular sunsets from the privacy of your own living space. Central air conditioning along with your own private plunge pool on the terrace helps to keep you cool on even the hottest days. A TV with cable, is located in the living room for those wanting to stay attuned to what's happening worldwide. A washing machine is available for your use and a gas BBQ is available upon request.

The swimming pool and jacuzzi are a 2 minute walk from the villa. A swim up bar and lunch bar are attached. The hotel with its pool and restaurant is a further 3-minute walk along a lush green pathway. Hermosa beach is a lovely 5-minute walk downhill, passing trees filled with birds, and if you're lucky, monkeys will greet you as well. For those who prefer, a 10 person covered golf cart style shuttle circulates every few minutes to transport guests to/from the beach, and hotel reception/restaurants/pools and villas.

In the immediate Hermosa area, you will find all essentials for a great holiday. There is a souvenir shop and mini mart at the hotel, a small grocery  store "AquaSport" just down the beach, and a complete grocery store "Luperon" a 10-minute drive away at Playa del Coco or “Copecompro” a 10-minute drive to the small town of Sardinal.  Hotel Villa Acacia also has a small internet café for those who need internet service. Food prices are extremely reasonable, about a third less than in Canada, and most ingredients are available to create gourmet meals. One of the wonderful qualities of Costa Ricans is their cleanliness and attention to sanitation, so there are no concerns about "Montezuma's Revenge"! They export beef worldwide, so you'll enjoy excellent filet minon at a third the price of home! Liquor prices are unbelievably low, with wines available from Chile and Argentina, as well as imported European varieties at modest, though higher prices. Be sure to try the delicious local coffee liqueur "Café Rica".

Playa Hermosa directly translated means “beautiful beach”.  There is no doubt that Playa Hermosa is an incredibly beautiful.  The sandy beach is about two kilometers in length.  It is known as one of the safest swimming beaches in the country for the whole family as it has small waves, no rip tides, and no rock.  It is renowned for scuba diving, but also available are sailing excursions, deep-sea fishing, jet skiing, snorkeling, kite surfing, banana boats, and horseback riding. A variety of nearby restaurants provides you with an opportunity to experience the plentiful produce and excellent seafood.  French, Italian, Russian and Costa Rican style restaurants are all close by. Several are owned and operated by Canadians, who have added their particular air to this paradise.

In addition to Playa Hermosa itself, you are also well located to tour a variety of sites as day trips. Some possibilities are:

  • Arenal Volcano, where it's natural fireworks excite observers daily (from a safe vantage point)
  • Palo Verde National Park, noted for birding (over 300 species recorded)) on the Rio Tempisque
  • Rincon de la Vieja National Park, known for it's steaming mud pots, hot springs and geysers
  • Monteverde Cloud Forest, truly an enchanting place and a veritable mecca for birders
  • Santa Rosa National Park, an example of dry tropical forest
  • Los Inocentes, a lovely old hacienda providing horseback riding through the dry tropical forest
  • Tabacon Resort, where you can enjoy natural hot springs
  • Canopy Tour, a chance to hang as a monkey with a harness and safety equipment while you discover the forest from a totally different perspective.  An adrenaline rush
  • Guaitil Pottery Town, preserves the tradition of pottery making from the Chorotega Indians.  You have a chance to see beautiful pottery developed from the raw materials, to their primitive painting styles done with essences of plants, baked in ovens made of clay and the final polish before the craft goes out to market.
  • Nicaragua,  is close enough that day trips can provide you with a chance to visit the colonial city of Grenada as well as a chance to buy souvenirs in the handicraft center of Masaya.
  • Las Pumas Refuge, a Swiss born environmentalist founded this refuge for animals that were injured or orphaned.  Here is your chance to see ocelots, jaguar, cougars, margays, jaguarondis, and “tiger” cats.

These sites can be visited on your own, or with various tour companies in the area.

As well, there are numerous beaches within a few hours drive along the coast, from funky Tamarindo which is great for beginner surfers and boogie boarding, to the Five Star Melia Playa Conchal Resort with it’s 18 hole championship golf course. Within an hours drive to the south you can access three championship golf courses, the Garra de Leon Course in Playa Conchal, the Royal Pacific course in Playa Grande and the Hacienda Pinilla course just south of Tamarindo.  And a much-anticipated Arnold Palmer course to the north promises to cinch the area’s emerging reputation as the place to golf in Costa Rica. 

 Rates:

  • $1,200 US per week, excluding Easter and New Years.  These two weeks have higher rates.
  • $3,000 US per month.  (For dates that do not overlap Easter and New Years).
