Villa Davison, located in Playa Hermosa,  is a three bedroom villa that'll sleep between 6-8 people. The open concept and high ceilings provide an elegant, spacious place to gather with friends or family. The living area fronts the terrace so everywhere the incredible view of Hermosa Bay is the focus. The North American style kitchen is a pleasure for multiple chefs, and there is ample seating for group dining. A TV/VCR, with cable, is located in the living room for those wanting to stay attuned to what's happening worldwide.

The spacious master bedroom is off the living area, opens to the terrace, and has full in suite bath. The second and third bedrooms are located on the upper level, both with small balconies and individual in suite baths. One has one double bed, while the other has two double beds. Each bedroom has TV with cable.

The Villas' own swimming pool and jacuzzi are a 2 minute walk from Villa Davison. A swim up bar and lunch bar are attached. The hotel with its two pools and restaurants is a further 5 minute walk along a lush green pathway. Hermosa beach is a lovely 10 minute walk downhill, passing trees filled with birds, and if you're lucky, monkeys will greet you as well. For those who prefer, a 10 person covered golf cart circulates every few minutes to transport guests to/from the beach, and hotel reception/restaurants/pools.

In the immediate Hermosa area, you will find all essentials for a great holiday. There is a mini mart at the hotel, a small grocery "AquaSport" just down the beach, and a complete grocery store "Luperon" 10 minutes away at Playa del Coco. Food prices are extremely reasonable, at least a third less than in Canada, and most ingredients are available to create gourmet meals. One of the wonderful qualities of Costa Ricans is their cleanliness and attention to sanitation, so there are no concerns about "Montezuma's Revenge"! They export beef worldwide, so you'll enjoy excellent filet minon at a third the price of home! Liquor prices are unbelievably low, with wines available from Chile and Argentina, as well as imported European varieties at modest, though higher prices. Be sure to try the delicious local coffee liqueur "Café Rica".

Hermosa is renowned for scuba diving, but also available are sailing excursions, deep sea fishing, jet skiing, and horseback riding. A variety of nearby restaurants enjoy the plentiful produce and excellent seafood to provide fine dining in French, Italian, and Costa Rican style. Several are owned and operated by Canadians, who have added their particular air to this paradise.

In addition to Playa Hermosa itself, you are also well located to tour a variety of sites as day trips. Some possibilities are:

  • Arenal Volcano, where it's natural fireworks excite observers daily (from a safe vantage point)
  • Palo Verde National Park, noted for birding (over 300 species recorded)) on the Rio Tempisque
  • Rincon de la Vieja National Park, known for it's steaming mud pots, hot springs and geysers
  • Monteverde Cloud Forest, truly an enchanting place and a veritable mecca for birders
  • Santa Rosa National Park, an example of dry tropical forest
  • Los Innocente, a lovely old hacienda providing horseback riding through the dry tropical forest
  • Tabacon Resort, where you can enjoy natural hot springs
These sites can be visited on your own in a rental car, or with various tour companies in the area. As well, there are numerous beaches within a few hours drive along the coast, from funky Tamarindo, to the Five Star Melia Playa Conchal Resort and 18 hole championship golf course. You will find the Costa Rican people to be very warm and friendly. At the resorts English is spoken, but give Spanish a try. The "Ticos" will welcome and help you with your efforts.
